I don't see how Melo doesn't get bought out at this rate. Nobody is going to want to deal with NYK to make a trade happen.

Finally, Stan Van with a good move
Quote:
The Boston Celtics have agreed to send Avery Bradley to the Detroit Pistons for Marcus Morris.

Bradley is entering the final season of his contract and Boston needed to clear cap space to sign Gordon Hayward.

[Charania] Boston also sending a 2019 second-round pick to Detroit, league sources say.
Quote:
[Wojnarowski] Detroit is renouncing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, league source tells ESPN.
KCP got screwed here but Bradley is an upgrade. Since a S&T with Utah didn't go anywhere, all teams in the league knew Ainge had no leverage. Got a taste of his own medicine here.

More and more teams are trying to go "positionless", but I wonder when that will bite a team in the ass.
Quote:
Milos Teodosic has agreed to a two-year, $12.3 million deal with the Clippers.
Never seen him but apparently pretty exciting kinda guy.
Quote:
[Wojnarowski] Free agent Bojan Bogdanovic has agreed to a two-year, $21M deal with the Indiana Pacers, league source tells ESPN.
Quote:
The Mavs are in the process of finalizing a two-year, $10 million deal with Dirk Nowitzki, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com.
Quote:
Tyreke Evans has agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Grizzlies, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.

[Wojnarowski] Atlanta will not match New York's $71M offer sheet to Tim Hardaway Jr., but official notification still hours away.
And the best part about this is that it also includes a 15% trade kicker. lolknicks bid against themselves. One report had the Hawks expecting offers in the 45mil range at most lol.
Quote:
[Wojnarowski] Harden's progressing toward adding four years onto Houston current deal, an extension that could guarantee him $228M through 2022-23 season.

[Wojnarowski] Houston has made extension official: Sources tell ESPN it will be worth $228M through the 2022-23 season.

[Marks] A James Harden four-year extension would start in 2019-20 at a salary of $37.8M, $40.8M, $43.8M and $46.8M.
jesus...

They're also supposedly close to getting Melo in a 3-way trade with Ryno going to Portland and who knows what to NY. My guess is Harkless/Leonard part of the package with picks/expirings.

So...Paul/Harden/Ariza/Melo/Capela with Gordon/Tucker/Nene off the bench. That still is not enough to beat GS but it legitimately gives them a chance.
Quote:
[Wojnarowski] Free agent forward Rudy Gay has agreed to a two year deal with the Spurs, league sourcs tell ESPN.
17mil, with player option. Gay opted out of 14 mil lol. Ouch. Good deal for Spurs tho since forget fit, they need talent at this point to keep up. The West is an arms race.

[Wojnarowski] Toronto has traded DeMarre Carroll, a future first-round and second-round pick to Brooklyn for Justin Hamilton, league sources tell ESPN.

[Zillgitt] On Raptors sending DeMarre Carroll, draft picks to Nets for Justin Hamilton, 2018 first-rounder to Nets is lottery protected. ESPN first.
What a shit signing he turned out to be. They also appear to be wanting to dump Val, but no takers as of yet.

It actually benefits the Rockets in this scenario, but sure, we'll just pretend otherwise

Decent, I suppose. They had nothing at the 3 after losing Carroll/Tucker.

Griffin and the Knicks couldn't work it out. Rumor seems to be because Dolan didn't want to allow Grif to bring in his own people. Woof.

Not bad for KCP. Obviously screwed by the Bradley trade, but still getting 18 for a year this late in FA is damn good.

About time. Couldn't stand how long the last few mins were. Also the league will tip off October 17, which is about 10 days earlier than average. Guessing the preseason will be cut in half and to get teams to rest players less.

Wow, a good deal by Orlando. I don't think it's the right fit for Simmons tho. Not sure what Spurs are doing. Seems they'll be punting this coming year in hopes of next year's FA.

Hmm....so a mini-Woj bomb was dropped in regards to Melo, who still wants out despite the Knicks wanting to repair the relationship with new GM Scott Perry. One of the presumed teams in a possible 3 or 4-way deal was Portland, but Woj says they would want Melo for themselves. So you can cross them off the list of teams willing to facilitate a deal.

Rajon Rondo has reached an agreement on a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Odd fit but that team needs talent more than anything atm. Jrue can play some 2. I feel this is just enough to push them into that 7th or 8th West spot. Pels are top heavy with shit depth.

I was surprised how well he shot the 3 last season. I think it's an aberration, but as long as his regress is to around average, shouldn't be a liability on offense. It's clearly a signing with Durant in mind.

Spurs caught my curiosity given their offseason so far and looks to me they are punting this coming season with the disguise that they are competing. They'd rather develop some of their young guys. Next season is when they'll have a shit ton of cap room and can drastically remake the team.

Oh dear...
Quote:
Kyrie Irving is ready to end his run with the Cleveland Cavaliers, as league sources told ESPN that the guard has asked the team to trade him.

The request came last week and was made to Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert. Irving has expressed that he wants to go play in a situation where he can be a more focal point and no longer wants to play alongside LeBron James, sources said.

Irving's agent Jeff Wechsler would not confirm or deny whether Irving asked for a trade.

"Kyrie and I had a meeting with Cavs leadership where we discussed many different scenarios in reference to Kyrie and his future with the team," Wechsler told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. "The basis of those discussions and what went on in those discussions are between the Cavs and us. We are respectfully going to keep those private."

James was informed of Irving's request and was blindsided and disappointed, sources said. Other members of the team have learned of Irving's intentions in recent days as well.

When Irving signed his deal, he expected to be the franchise player for the foreseeable future. But about two weeks later, James arrived from Miami. The sudden change of situation rocked Irving, and he has vacillated at times over the past three years about working as a secondary star to James and the original plan of having his own team.
- from that fatty Brian Windhorst

If LeBron indeed leaves, I'd happily get rid of Kyrie. You'll never go anywhere with him as your best player.

Cavs got a title from all this, so no need to end it all, Stevens.

I'm not sure how certain Round 4 of Cavs/Warriors is at this point with this out there now. These kind of bad vibes do teams in.

I feel Phoenix could get a deal done there if they want to. Something like Bledsoe/Jackson/1st. Either way you look at it, it'll be hard doing a deal now with the draft and frenzy part of FA over since a lot of those moving parts are now settled.

Another guard cashes in
Quote:
[Aldridge] John Wall has agreed to the designated player veteran exception in Washington, per source, that will pay him a total of $207M through 2023.

[Aldridge] The three-year, $170 million extension starts in 2019, after Wall’s existing five-year deal expires. Wall will get $37.1M total through ’19.

[Charania] Washington star John Wall has agreed to a four-year, $170M extension with the Wizards, including player option and trade kicker.

I blame Gilbert. Had a dynasty in his hands and fired the GM, kicked the tires as weakly as possible in free agency, and let speculation take over for weeks. Not sure where Kyrie can go and 'be the guy" to any instant success though.

Kevin Love is gonna be the last Cav standing, isn't he? Kind of oddly poetic I guess.
